Objective: Modernize a postwar kitchen for a growing young family
This kitchen renovation in a Victorian house increased both space and light with a new layout including French glass doors to the formal dining area, floor to ceiling hardwood cabinets, and increased closet/ open storage pantry areas. Workspace was doubled by replacing the free-standing dining table with a granite island, which is used equally for prep space and casual dining. A combination of an enlarged south-facing window above the sink, pendant fixtures, dimmable recessed cans, countertop, and cabinet lighting create a variety of lighting scenes for work and dining.
